Tory Bryant’s résumé credentials in the fields of animation, special effects, and product design are jaw-dropping. She has led and collaborated with innovative creative teams at Laika Animation Studio, Hasbro, and Nike, among others. As animation fans ourselves, we were floored that such an absolute legend contacted us to help her launch a portfolio website.
While the design and functionality of this site are relatively straightforward – mostly consisting of beautiful full-bleed images and character design galleries that speak for themselves – the creative labor that Tory most needed our help with was her messaging and content strategy. This site’s main purpose is to help her make her case for potential employers to see her in another type of role: a qualified leader of creative teams.
To that end, we helped her narrow down the “stories” of her career path to a handful of case studies that help show the common threads between her wide variety of professional experiences. These case studies became the centerpiece of the website, transforming a simple portfolio into a stunning visual cover letter.
